For the product reviews, I find things that I like.  If the site has an affiliate program and offers a commission on product sales, I use it, if not I will post the review anyway.   A product review is not dependent on an affiliate relationship.   For example, a lot of the handmade items I find on Etsy, which does not have an affiliate program.

Occasionally a product designer will send me an item to review.  If I like it and if it is a good fit for the site, I will review it.    Sending an item does not guarantee a product review.  I try to include a mix of product types for boys, girls, and parents.  Reviews for seasonal items usually start two months prior.  You may start gearing up your Christmas line 8 months before, but shoppers aren’t going to start thinking about it until closer to the holiday.
